the questions you were gonna ask.
Everything about how anonymity, the reveal, safety, and launch actually work. Still curious? drop your email on the waitlist.
Is this actually anonymous? Like, really?
Posts and comments are anonymous by default. They show a generated persona name (like "velvetotter42"), no handle, no profile link. The only way you become visible is if you turn on Haunt mode (opt-in) and a comment you wrote gets liked by 10% of the post's viewers — and you always see that coming via the heat meter.
Can someone get me unmasked against my will?
Only if you've turned on Haunt mode — and even then, only when your comment gets liked by 10% of the post's viewers. The threshold scales: a quiet post with 50 views needs just 5 likes, a viral post with 500 views needs 50. You can delete any comment before it hits the threshold. You'll see the heat meter rising as it approaches. And you can toggle Haunt mode off anytime if you want to stay fully anonymous.
Do I need to be near a haunt to post?
No. Join any haunt — place or topic — and post to it from anywhere. Your couch, the metro, another city. Haunts are communities you belong to, not places you have to stand in. Your feed's "Around" tab uses GPS to show what's happening near you, but posting is never location-locked.
When is it coming to my school?
We're soft-launching in Montreal this summer — McGill, Concordia, UdeM, UQAM, plus downtown and neighborhood haunts. After that, we're rolling out city by city based on waitlist density. Drop your email on the waitlist to put your city on the map.
How do you handle harassment and bad actors?
AI moderation screens every post for hate, harassment, and targeted abuse before it appears. Users can block, report, and hide in one long-press. Three reports auto-hide a post. Repeat offenders get shadow-banned, not just muted. The reveal mechanic is itself a deterrent — nothing grows big if it'd get you in trouble when it unmasks.
How do followers and the feed work?
You can follow people to see more of their posts. Follower counts are visible on profiles. Your feed has three tabs: Haunts (posts from communities you joined), Nearby (posts from place haunts within your GPS radius), and Trending (what's blowing up right now). No black-box algorithm — trending uses a transparent weighted shuffle based on engagement and time of day.
What happens to my data?
Your identity is stored encrypted on-device. Post content is tied to a rotating anonymous ID, not your account. We don't sell your data.
