your privacy, in plain language

we built this to forget who you are.

Haunt only works if anonymity is real. So we collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we tie what you post to a rotating anonymous ID — not to your name. Here's exactly what that means.

What we collect

An email or phone number to create your account, your approximate location to show you nearby haunts, and the content you post. That's the short list.

What posts are tied to

Your posts and comments link to a rotating anonymous ID, not your account. Your real identity is stored encrypted on-device, separate from what you say.

What we never do

We don't sell your data. No data brokers, no third-party ad networks, no selling your contacts. Your anonymous posts stay anonymous in our systems too.

Location

We use approximate location to surface the haunts around you. We don't keep a running history of everywhere you've been, and you can revoke the permission anytime.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email to tell you when Haunt goes live near you — and to count your spot in line. We won't email you twice for no reason, and you can ask us to delete it.

Your controls

You can delete your account and the data attached to it. You can turn off location. You can email us to get a copy of what we hold or to have it erased.
